On 13 February 2023, Scottish Ministers adopted National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4), under which the onshore transmission works for the West of Orkney Windfarm are classified as a ‘National Development’, giving the project a nationally significant planning status in Scotland’s planning policy framework.
