During the site maturation phase, geophysical investigations at West of Duddon Sands, including seismic profiling and magnetic gradiometer surveys, were completed and interpreted, revealing localised bedrock cropping out close to the seabed in the southern part of the site and identifying it as intrusive igneous rock of Tertiary age.
