ScottishPower Renewables (WDS) Ltd and DONG Energy West of Duddon Sands (UK) Ltd established an unincorporated joint venture which holds the West of Duddon Sands transmission assets on a 50/50 basis during development and construction. These transmission assets comprise the offshore substation platform, onshore substation at Heysham, two export cables, and an OFTO‑dedicated SCADA system, linking the West of Duddon Sands wind farm in the East Irish Sea to the National Grid at Heysham, Lancashire.
