Turbine installation at Walney Extension began in Q2 2017 with the first of the MHI Vestas V164-8.0 MW turbines erected by Seajacks' jack-up vessel Scylla in the western half of the lease area. The campaign installed 40 × V164-8.0 MW units (the western development zone) followed by 47 × Siemens Gamesa SWT-7.0-154 units (the eastern zone), with the final turbine completed in April 2018. First power was achieved on 4 September 2017 and full commercial operations on 6 September 2018. Quarter precision used as the exact day-precision first-turbine date is not pinned in publicly available sources.
