In October 2015, DeepOcean reported that offshore works for Walney Extension, including route engineering and the installation and trenching of approximately 136 km of offshore export cables and a 23 km interlink cable linking the two offshore substations to landfall near Heysham, were expected to commence in the first quarter of 2017, subject to DONG Energy’s final investment decision.
