Export cable installation for the Walney 2 transmission link was completed on 20 July 2011, when the joint between the two laid sections of the export cable was finished. Earlier, on 3 July 2011 the export cable pull to the offshore substation had been completed at 04:00, bringing the cable up to the substation cable deck; by 20 July both sections were fully laid, jointed, and formed a continuous connection between the offshore substation within the wind farm and the National Grid connection point at Cleveleys near Blackpool.
