Turbine installation at Walney 1 began in 2010, with the first of 51 × Siemens SWT-3.6-107 turbines (184 MW first phase total) erected by A2SEA's installation vessels in the Irish Sea ~14 km west of Walney Island, Cumbria. First power was achieved in late 2010 and the project entered full commercial operations in May 2011 as Phase 1 of the combined Walney 1+2 wind farm (367 MW total).
