On 2 December 2011, Mitsubishi Corporation, through a wholly owned special purpose company and its UK subsidiary, acquired a 50% share of the Walney 1 offshore transmission assets from Macquarie Capital Group Limited, resulting in Mitsubishi and a fund managed by Barclays Infrastructure Funds Management each owning half of the Walney 1 OFTO business.
