Section 36 consent under the Electricity Act 1989 for the Walney Offshore Windfarm (including wind turbines, inter-array cables, export cables and offshore substations) was issued by the UK Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reforms (BERR) on 7 November 2007, providing the main planning consent for construction and operation. DONG Energy subsequently noted that the project received its final approval from the UK authorities in November 2007, enabling it to move toward investment and construction.
