By September 2011, the Walney Offshore Windfarm had obtained a consent under Section 5 of the Food and Environment Protection Act (FEPA) 1985 (reference FEPA: 33311/08/0) for the placement of foundations, turbines and substations, providing a key marine construction permit for offshore infrastructure including the substation assets associated with the Walney 1 OFTO export system.
