DONG Walney (UK) Ltd secured a Bilateral Connection Agreement (BCA) with National Grid on 11 March 2009 for the full 178 MW Transmission Entry Capacity associated with the Walney I offshore wind farm and its transmission assets, including the 132 kV connection at Heysham. This agreement formally confirmed grid access for the Walney 1 transmission system, underpinning the later transfer of the offshore transmission assets to the Walney 1 OFTO.
