The Danish government issued a 25‑year concession, running from 1991 to 2016, allowing the construction and operation of the Vindeby Offshore Wind Farm as a pioneering demonstration project using 11 Bonus turbines off the coast of Lolland. This concession provided the formal development consent underpinning the world’s first commercial offshore wind farm.
