Siemens Energy was awarded the contract to deliver the two onshore HVDC converter stations for the Viking Link interconnector between Great Britain and Denmark. Acting for National Grid Viking Link Ltd. and Energinet Eltransmission A/S, Siemens Energy is responsible for overall system design, supply, installation and commissioning of a 1,400 MW, ±525 kV HVDC PLUS converter system, with one station at Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire, UK, and the other at Revsing in southern Jutland, Denmark. The contract, valued at approximately £270 million and awarded in 2019, covers the full converter scope including voltage‑sourced converters and associated equipment enabling bidirectional power exchange over the 765–767 km DC cable link. Siemens Energy also leads construction of the UK converter station, which began on site in 2020.
