Intertek was appointed as a marine consultant to support permitting and consenting for the Viking Link HVDC interconnector between Great Britain and Denmark. The appointment covered cable route optimisation, marine survey support, preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) documentation, and stakeholder engagement across Danish, German, Dutch and British jurisdictions. The work supported planning and consenting for an offshore cable route reported as approximately 600–700 km in offshore length for the 1,400 MW interconnector. The contract was reported in January 2016 and advanced the project’s environmental and permitting deliverables.
