The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) provided dedicated lending to support Viking Link construction: in 2022 NIB signed a second 10‑year loan agreement with Energinet totalling DKK 1.5 billion to help finance the interconnector. The loan represented project-related debt financing to Energinet’s share of the programme and formed part of the project’s wider financing package alongside developer funding and grants.
