By November 2022, construction of the Viking Link interconnector reached a key delivery milestone at the UK converter station site near Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire. The project team had received the first two of the seven large Siemens Energy transformers required for the HVDC converter station. Each transformer is described as weighing as much as “54 elephants,” underlining the logistical and engineering effort involved in transporting and handling such heavy equipment.
