On 7 July 2015 it was announced that Siemens would supply, install and commission 67 of its 6 MW direct-drive SWT‑6.0‑154 offshore wind turbines for the Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm in the German North Sea, giving a total capacity of 402 MW. The order followed the project’s final investment decision and includes a 15‑year service and maintenance agreement, described as Siemens’ largest wind service order in Germany and its second largest globally. Siemens will deploy an advanced offshore service logistics concept using helicopters and a dedicated service operation vessel to maximise availability at the far-shore site, which is located northwest of Borkum with water depths of 39–41 m and average wind speeds above 10 m/s. Grid access will be via the BorWin2 HVDC connection built by Siemens.
