In September 2014, investment firm Highland Group Holdings Ltd acquired the development rights to the Veja Mate offshore wind farm from the original developer Bard. This transaction transferred control of the project to Highland, positioning it to lead the next phase of development and financing. At this stage the project was still in development, with no detailed financial terms or stake percentages publicly disclosed, but subsequent communications describe Highland as having acquired the project prior to bringing in new equity partners and arranging project finance.
