Offshore Site Preparation

Offshore site preparation for the Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm in the German North Sea began in early 2016. Boskalis, working under the Offshore Windforce Veja Mate joint venture with Volker Stevin, started offshore installation activities in January 2016 with the placement of scour protection around the future foundation locations. Scour protection, consisting of filter and armour layers, was installed using the rock placement vessel Rockpiper. In parallel, seabed preparation works at the offshore site, located about 95 km northwest of Borkum in water depths of roughly 39–41 m, commenced in February 2016. These activities prepared the seabed for subsequent monopile installation and other foundation works and formed the first physical works at the project site following financial close.
