Main offshore construction for the 402 MW Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm started on 4 April 2016. According to Copenhagen Offshore Partners, construction of the project, located about 95 km northwest of Borkum in the German North Sea, began on this date following financial close in mid‑2015. This marked the transition from preparatory activities such as scour and seabed works into the full construction phase, including installation of monopile foundations, the offshore substation and, later, turbines and inter‑array cables. The project connects via the BorWin2 HVDC system to the onshore converter station at Diele, Germany, and was planned to reach full operation by the end of 2017.
