On 2 July 2015, a joint venture of Bladt Industries A/S and EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH (EEW SPC) was awarded a construction contract by Offshore Windforce VM V.O.F. to supply 67 monopile foundations for the Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm. EEW SPC will fabricate the monopiles at its Rostock, Germany facilities, with diameters up to 7.8 m, lengths up to 84.8 m and average weights around 1,200 tonnes. Bladt Industries, at its Aalborg, Denmark headquarters, will produce the 67 transition pieces with diameters up to 6.8 m, average weights of 350 tonnes and lengths of approximately 22 m. The award reflects both companies’ ability to handle relatively large foundation dimensions compared with previous European projects.
