Planning documents for the Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm indicated that offshore construction would begin with installation of the turbine foundations in April 2016. The 402 MW project, comprising 67 Siemens SWT‑6.0‑154 turbines installed in water depths of 39–41 m, was scheduled to start with monopile foundation installation at the site located in the German Exclusive Economic Zone of the North Sea, around 130 km north of Eemshaven and roughly 95 km northwest of Borkum. This sequence placed foundation installation immediately after seabed preparation and ahead of turbine installation, which was planned to follow later in the construction schedule.
