Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm reached full commercial operation in late May 2017. According to project records, the last of the 67 Siemens SWT‑6.0‑154 turbines was installed on 25 May 2017 and commissioning activities for the wind farm were completed on 31 May 2017, less than 23 months after financial close and almost four months ahead of the original schedule. With all turbines commissioned, the 402 MW project in the German Bight became fully operational, delivering power via the HVDC BorWin2 connection to the onshore Diele substation. Since its commissioning in May 2017, Veja Mate has been operating at full planned capacity, generating around 1.6 TWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of roughly 400,000 households, and significantly reducing CO₂ emissions over its operating life.
