Siem Offshore Contractors GmbH was awarded the turnkey contract for the inner‑array grid cable system at the 400–402 MW Veja Mate Offshore Wind Farm, with offshore installation works scheduled to begin in 2016. The project, located about 115 km off the German coast in the German Bight, comprises 67 Siemens 6 MW turbines interconnected by approximately 97 km of 33 kV MVAC submarine composite cables forming the inter‑array grid. Siem Offshore Contractors was to supply and install the cables, including cable protection systems, accessories, post‑installation termination, trenching and testing, using vessels and resources from the wider Siem Offshore group. At the time of the 2015 announcement, these offshore cable works were described as due to commence during 2016, ahead of the project’s planned online date before the end of 2017.
