Alcoa’s aluminium plant at Lista collaborated with BP on the operation of the Lista power-from-shore station that connects the Valhall HVDC Light link to the Norwegian mainland grid. The station, located adjacent to the aluminium works, converts grid-supplied AC power and feeds it through the 294 km subsea cable to the Valhall field. Alcoa’s role involves supporting day-to-day operation of the onshore high-voltage facilities, including the transformer and converter installation, helping to ensure reliable power supply from the Norwegian grid to the offshore platforms.
