In May 2025, the Norwegian government invited applications for three floating offshore wind sites within the Utsira Nord area, under a support scheme of roughly EUR 3 billion for floating offshore wind in the North Sea. This call for applications reopened the Utsira Nord tender under the newly approved state aid framework and covered three sites that together may enable several gigawatts of future floating capacity.
