In 2024, shortly after completing the first Sørlige Nordsjø II fixed-bottom offshore wind tender, the Norwegian government announced that the Utsira Nord floating wind process would be postponed to 2025 in order to establish and notify a common state aid model before project sites were awarded. This decision paused the previously planned Utsira Nord timetable and reset the sequence so that subsidy design and ESA notification would precede a new call for applications.
