In 2023, the then Ministry of Petroleum and Energy tasked Statnett with planning a coordinated grid solution to connect 1,500 MW of offshore wind from the Utsira Nord area to the Norwegian mainland. This assignment initiated Statnett’s studies of a joint landing solution and new transformer station concept intended to serve all three Utsira Nord project areas.
