By early 2026, an agreement had been reached between Amprion, Energinet and relevant authorities on the topology for the first North Sea hybrid interconnector between Germany and Denmark. The agreed concept foresees integrating 4 GW of offshore wind in the Danish Exclusive Economic Zone via two HVDC connections—one to Denmark and one to Germany—thereby enabling both offshore wind integration and additional cross-border trade capacity.
