In 2023, Terna initiated onshore site-preparation activities for the Tyrrhenian Link’s West section in Selargius, in the province of Cagliari (Sardinia). At the site designated for the future converter station, the company started environmental reclamation focused on asbestos reclamation and removal of accumulated waste. These works are intended to clean up and make safe the former area ahead of construction of the converter station, ensuring the land is suitable for subsequent civil works associated with the Tyrrhenian Link HVDC infrastructure.
