Aker Solutions carried out key engineering and execution work for the Troll West electrification (TWEL) project. On behalf of Equinor and the Troll partners, the company first performed the front-end engineering and design (FEED) for electrifying the Troll B and C platforms with power from shore. Following this, Aker Solutions received a substantial EPCI contract, valued at around NOK 2.9 billion, to implement the modifications. The scope includes designing, procuring, assembling and installing new electrical modules for Troll B and Troll C and integrating them with the new onshore electrical facilities at Kollsnes. Aker Solutions built three electro modules at its Stord yard and procured and installed the electrical equipment for these modules and for the new electro building at Kollsnes, tying the new systems into existing operating systems both offshore and onshore. This work enables the platforms to receive high-voltage power from the Kollsnes substation and is central to reducing CO2 and NOx emissions from the Troll field.
