On 6 September 2016, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy granted a Development Consent Order for the Triton Knoll Electrical System via The Triton Knoll Electrical System Order 2016, authorising the onshore and electrical transmission works, including substations and cabling, needed to connect the project to the National Grid at Bicker Fen substation in Lincolnshire. This consent followed a separate examination process under the Planning Act 2008 specifically for the electrical system, distinct from the offshore generating station DCO.
