On publication of the updated Development Framework for Offshore Wind Energy (version December 2024, published 27 January 2025), the Dutch government formally defined key design requirements for TenneT’s Ten noorden van de Waddeneilanden offshore grid connection. The Framework confirms that this wind farm zone will use a 700 MW alternating‑current offshore platform despite the long export cable distance, requires the platform to be equipped with a helicopter deck as an explicit exception to the standard ship‑only access policy, and stipulates that TenneT must enlarge the standard platform design to accommodate reactive power compensation equipment and two additional customer connection fields for nearby gas infrastructure. These provisions fix important functional and spatial parameters for the Net op zee Ten noorden van de Waddeneilanden platform ahead of detailed engineering and procurement.
