Planning documents for European transmission infrastructure list the Tarchon Energy Interconnector, a 1.4 GW HVDC link between Great Britain and Germany, with a commissioning year of 2030. Ofgem’s 2024 decision approving Tarchon under its cap and floor regime, and subsequent announcements on five new subsea links, state that these projects – including Tarchon – are expected to be complete and operational by the end of 2032.
