As part of constructing the Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm in the Gulf of Bothnia, Suomen Hyötytuuli completed offshore site preparation by levelling the hard seabed to create flat bearing surfaces for gravity-based steel foundations designed for ice loads. The seabed preparation utilised specialised lifting and positioning systems to keep the heavy hollow foundations vertical, preventing damage to the prepared seabed and enabling subsequent turbine installation in Finland’s frozen-sea conditions.
