Nordic Yards was contracted by Siemens Energy to build the self-erecting offshore HVDC converter platform SylWin alpha for the SylWin1 offshore grid connection. The scope described included fabrication of the two main components (topside and jacket/foundation), with manufacturing and optimisation carried out at Nordic Yards’ Warnemünde and Wismar yards. The platform was to be installed about 70 km west of Sylt and designed to transmit up to 864 MW from the DanTysk, Sandbank and Butendiek wind farms to the German mainland.
