ABB to design, engineer, supply and install an approximately 38 km long 3‑core 155 kV AC submarine cable system connecting the Butendiek offshore wind farm AC platform to the SylWin alpha HVDC converter platform.
ABB was contracted by TenneT to provide an AC export cable system connecting the Butendiek offshore wind farm to the SylWin alpha HVDC converter platform within the SylWin1 cluster. The scope covers design, engineering, manufacture, supply and installation of an approximately 38 km long 3‑core 155 kV submarine power cable rated at about 144 MW, linking the wind farm’s AC platform, located roughly 30 km off Sylt, to SylWin alpha. ABB took over this fast‑track project after the originally destined high‑voltage cable was lost in an offshore incident, enabling TenneT to maintain the grid connection schedule by delivering a replacement submarine cable system for power export from Butendiek into the SylWin1 HVDC grid connection.
