GlobalConnect has launched a new subsea fibre-optic connection between Sweden and Finland via Åland as part of a USD 14 million infrastructure investment, which also includes upgrading around 365 km of terrestrial fibre between Helsinki, Turku, Åland, Stockholm and Gävle and is planned to be completed by the end of 2026. The investment aims to quadruple GlobalConnect’s data transmission capacity between Sweden and Finland and enhance regional redundancy and resilience for growing data and AI-driven demand.
