GlobalConnect plans to complete its new subsea fibre-optic cable linking Sweden and Finland via Åland, together with approximately 365 km of upgraded terrestrial fibre routes between Helsinki, Turku, Åland, Stockholm and Gävle, by the end of 2026. Once operational, the 150 km subsea system and associated onshore reinforcements are expected to quadruple GlobalConnect’s data transmission capacity between Sweden and Finland and significantly enhance regional redundancy and resilience.
