Stromar Offshore Wind Limited is preparing to submit an onshore planning application for the Stromar Floating Offshore Wind Farm’s grid connection and associated infrastructure in Aberdeenshire. Exhibition materials for the first phase of the statutory pre-application consultation (PAC) explain that this consultation is being undertaken "ahead of" a planning application being submitted to Aberdeenshire Council for the onshore works, which include a refined onshore cable corridor, preferred landfall locations, preferred substation sites, and a proposed reactive compensation station. The same materials provide an indicative programme showing that the project partners aim to submit an Onshore Planning in Principle application in Autumn 2025, following completion of two PAC phases and associated design refinements. The PAC documentation stresses that comments gathered during the current consultation are not formal representations to Aberdeenshire Council; formal representations will only be possible once the planning application has actually been submitted. A Marine Scotland PAC notice similarly notes that there will be an opportunity to make representations to Aberdeenshire Council relating to the onshore development once the onshore application has been submitted, confirming that no such application is yet on file. Together, these sources show that Stromar remains at the pre-application stage for its onshore works, with submission of the Planning in Principle application targeted for Autumn 2025 rather than already achieved.
