The Stromar floating offshore wind farm is currently targeting first power in the early 2030s, according to the project’s own indicative development timeline. On the “Project progress” overview, the partners set out a sequenced pathway in which Stromar, having advanced through surveys, environmental assessment and planning, would reach an initial power generation milestone in that early‑decade window. This first power point is positioned after planning consent and the start of construction, highlighting it as a major transition from development and build-out into operational activity for the wind farm. The same indicative schedule situates first power after several preceding milestones: seabed rights to develop Stromar were awarded in 2022; initial surveys and a Scoping Report were completed in 2023; and in January 2024 the Scoping Reports for the Environmental Impact Assessment and Habitats Regulations Appraisal screening were submitted to the Marine Directorate and Aberdeenshire Council for offshore and onshore elements. The partners signal that construction could commence in the late 2020s, with first power following in the early 2030s. They also emphasise that all milestone dates, including the first power window, remain indicative and are subject to outcomes from National Grid’s Holistic Network Design Follow-up Exercise and other external stakeholder timelines, underlining that this schedule may shift as grid and regulatory dependencies are resolved.
