The Stoura Offshore Wind project, associated with the Sealtainn/ScotWind NE1 area, is currently planned to reach full commercial operation around 2036. Official project exhibition material presents a development timeline in which the wind farm becomes “Operational” in 2036, positioning this year as the target date for the project’s transition from construction and commissioning into steady-state generation. This forward-looking schedule is consistent with the project’s current status as being in early-stage development, with ongoing work on environmental assessments, scoping for onshore and offshore elements, and technical design activities. Local media reporting reinforces this timetable. ESB’s floating wind director explains that the 500 MW Stoura windfarm, comprising a proposed layout of around 28 turbines of 18 MW each and located about 40km east of Skerries, is expected to take roughly four years to build and is “currently estimated for completion in 2036.” Taken together with the developer’s own project timeline, this indicates that 2036 is the best available estimate for the wind farm entering full commercial operations at its intended capacity. As of the 2024–2025 materials and the October 2025 interview, the project remains in the planning and consultation phases, so the 2036 date should be interpreted as a planned, not yet achieved, commercial operations milestone.
