On 27 July 2023, the Government of Sweden rejected Vattenfall’s application to build and operate the Stora Middelgrund offshore wind farm in the Swedish economic zone off Halmstad, concluding that the chosen location would unacceptably damage sensitive natural values and could negatively affect national shipping interests under Chapter 2, Section 6 of the Environmental Code.
