In July 2009, Svenska Kraftnät awarded ABB’s cable factory in Karlskrona a turnkey contract to supply and install approximately 40 km of 245 kV PEX submarine cables between Nacka and Gustavsberg, as part of reinforcing the power connections to Värmdö and Farstalandet within the Stockholms Ström programme. The order, which covers double submarine cable systems laid in Lännerstasundet and under Baggensfjärden, confirms ABB as the cable supplier for the Nacka–Gustavsberg interconnection subproject.
Licence: Environmental Impact Assessment (miljökonsekvensbeskrivning) for new 220 kV Nacka–Gustavsberg transmission line
Svenska Kraftnät prepared and issued a revised environmental impact assessment (miljökonsekvensbeskrivning) for the new 220 kV Nacka–Gustavsberg transmission line within its "Stockholms Ström" programme, publishing the document on the web and making it available at local municipal offices and libraries for consultation. Stakeholders, including Nacka Miljövårdsråd and the municipalities of Nacka and Värmdö, were invited to submit comments on this revised EIA by 6 July 2007, after which it was replaced by a final environmental impact assessment.
By 2006, preplanning and processing of applications were underway for Stockholms Ström subprojects, including the planned reinforcement of electricity supply to Värmdö via new 220 kV ground and sea cables from Nacka to a new 220/70 kV transformer station at Gustavsberg. These activities marked the early development phase of the Nacka–Gustavsberg link within the wider Stockholms Ström programme.
