In November 2024, EirGrid commenced a public and stakeholder consultation, under its Grid Development process, on potential offshore landfall points and onshore grid connection zones for the Powering Up Offshore – South Coast transmission project. The consultation seeks feedback on where the new offshore substation(s), submarine export cables and associated onshore substations should connect into the existing Irish transmission network to deliver around 900 MW of offshore wind power from Area A (Tonn Nua) of the South Coast DMAP.
