Fugro was contracted to carry out offshore export cable route surveys for innogy’s Sofia Offshore Wind Farm. Fugro’s multi-purpose vessel Fugro Pioneer conducted geophysical surveys along the approximately 220-kilometre export cable corridor from the Teesside area (between Redcar and Marske-by-the-Sea) to the wind farm site on Dogger Bank, collecting data such as bathymetry, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom seismic profiling and magnetometer results, alongside environmental grab samples and video transects. The offshore investigation programme also included geotechnical surveys (CPTs and vibrocores) along the export cable route to inform cable routing, landfall location and installation methodology ahead of construction.
