On 28 March 2014, Forewind submitted an application under section 37 of the Planning Act 2008 to The Planning Inspectorate for a Development Consent Order for the Dogger Bank Teesside A and B Offshore Wind Farms, which includes what is now known as the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm (formerly Dogger Bank Teesside B). The application comprised the full development consent package, including compulsory acquisition powers, land plans, and an Environmental Statement, and was subsequently accepted for examination on 23 April 2014.
