In February 2020, the first phase of Sofia’s six‑month offshore site investigation began as the vessel Fugro Pioneer departed the Port of Sunderland to carry out geophysical surveys along the project’s 220 km export cable corridor between just off Teesside (between Redcar and Marske‑by‑the‑Sea) and the wind farm site on Dogger Bank.
