On 24 March 2021, RWE announced that Preferred Supplier Agreements were in place with a specially formed consortium of GE Renewable Energy’s Grid Solutions and Sembcorp Marine to deliver Sofia’s HVDC transmission system, including two converter stations, establishing the consortium as the preferred converter supplier for the project.
