Description
Connecto Infra AS acted as Elektrilevi’s main procurement and construction partner for the 2025 replacement of the Soela Strait 35 kV submarine cable between Pammana (Saaremaa) and Emmaste (Hiiumaa). Connecto led the ten-stage works programme, including installing new cable support structures, dismantling and disposing of the two obsolete oil‑impregnated 35 kV submarine cables, installing and jointing the new higher‑capacity 6 km submarine cable, completing all electrical connections and auxiliary works, and managing inspection, commissioning and seabed restoration. During construction the electricity supply to Hiiumaa was maintained via the existing 2009 submarine cable and a back‑up connection. The overall investment by Elektrilevi in the cable replacement project was reported as €7.3 million, with works scheduled for completion by 11 December 2025.
